Founded in 1999, DMG Practice Management Solutions is a subsidiary of DuPage Medical Group (DMG), which had grown to become the largest independent, multi-specialty physician group in the Chicago area by 2015. DMG provided integrated physician-directed health care focused on quality, efficiency and access. Led by a strong executive team, the company was well positioned to benefit from the industry-wide shift to value-based care. When DMG explored outside growth capital opportunities in 2015, it was critical to their mission to maintain a patient-focused, doctor-directed culture. We believe Summit’s commitment to accommodate this need, together with our deep experience with physician practice management and value-based care models, helped position us as a desirable growth equity partner.

How Summit Partners Helped

  • Led a minority growth investment in 2016
  • Worked closely with management to optimize the M&A process, including developing a pipeline of more than 150 high-priority targets and supporting the execution of ten strategic transactions
  • Together with management, Summit bolstered DMG’s direct recruiting engine, building a repeatable, scalable recruitment function which resulted in a significant increase in the pace of organic physician recruitment
  • Worked closely with management to build the board of directors

By 2017, DMG had grown to employ more than 600 physicians in more than 80 suburban Chicago locations, providing primary, specialty and ancillary healthcare services to over 750,000 patients. At the time of Summit’s exit in 2017, the company continued to add additional service lines, sites of care and physicians, further enhancing its integrated outpatient delivery model and efforts to provide high quality, cost-effective care to patients. DMG represents one of more than 30 Summit Partners investments in the broader physician practice management market.
