Marty is a Senior Advisor and former Managing Director of Summit Partners. He joined the firm in 1985, and he has led investments in and served as a board director of more than 35 companies, including eight public companies. Over the course of his tenure at Summit, Marty has served as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer and Chief Operating Officer. He has served on Summit Partners Board of Managers since 2001 and currently serves as the board’s Chair.
Marty is currently a director of CareCentrix. His prior directorships include ABILITY Network (acquired by Inovalon), AdvaCare (NASDAQ: AVCR, acquired by Medaphis), American Dental Partners (NASDAQ: ADPI, taken private), Bartlett (acquired by Harvest Partners), Champion (acquired by Great Day Improvements), Clinical Pathology Laboratories (acquired by Sonic Healthcare), Employee Benefit Plans (NASDAQ: EBPI), ImageAmerica (became MedAlliance, NASDAQ: MDAL), Lincare (NASDAQ: LNCR, later acquired by The Linde Group), Liquidnet, MDVIP (acquired by Goldman Sachs and Charlesbank Capital), Pharmaco Dynamics Research (merged with Applied Bioscience International Inc., NASDAQ: APBI), Sparta Systems (acquired by Thoma Bravo) and Sun Trading.
Prior to Summit, Marty worked as a Systems Engineer at IBM Corporation. He holds an AB in economics from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Today, Marty is Chair of the boards of Berklee College of Music and Up Education Network, and he is a trustee of Regis High School in New York City. He was previously Chair of the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay and served on the boards of Belmont Hill School, Children’s Hospital Trust of Boston, Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors, and The Park School in Brookline, Massachusetts.
In 2015, the Healthcare Private Equity Association (HCPEA) presented Marty with its Russell L. Carson Award for lifetime achievement in healthcare investing.
